Walls

Walls in Rust are essential building elements used to shape, protect, and secure your base. Different wall types offer varying levels of durability and resistance depending on the materials used.

To place walls, players need a Building Plan, while a Hammer is used to upgrade, rotate, repair, or demolish walls during a short time window after placing or upgrading them. Building or upgrading walls also requires Building Privilege, which is provided by a Tool Cupboard connected to the base.

All walls in Rust are first placed as Twig, a temporary and extremely weak building state. Walls cannot be placed directly at higher tiers and must always be upgraded from Twig using the required materials. Some wall types, such as stone walls, have a weaker side, a mechanic that depends on the wall material and is explained in detail on each wall’s dedicated page.
